<image:title>About - Over a thousand scientific studies have shown that to transform our relationship to anxiety we must turn towards the anxiety and not away from it. I created Anxiety Solutions Asheville because I believe this counter-intuitive truth is not as well-known as it should be. People often spend years avoiding the very feelings that will help them create a more meaningful life.</image:title>
<image:caption>Successful therapy explores human life in its fullest sense - what we do, what we think, and what we feel - while being grounded in the deep experience of living in a human body. My primary therapeutic framework is called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which provides a rich, evidence-based, blend of mindful and somatic interventions, along with a strong behavioral and cognitive orientation. Together, my clients and I examine our deepest values, and how those values are expressed in the ways we live each day. We also address the culture at large and how that culture supports or hinders our growth and our ability to change. Everything effects everything else. Our lives are not problems to be solved, they are opportunities to flourish. We are living in uncertain times. There are so many reasons to be anxious. But we need not make matters worse by running from anxiety (anxiety is always faster than we are). There are proven methods available to help us turn anxiety into an ally - a resource for growth and self-discovery. I use these methods everyday, and I would be honored to share what I have learned with you.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - What is anxiety?</image:title>
<image:caption>Anxiety is a normal human emotion that is experienced when a person feels under threat. It only becomes a problem when it is severe, persistent, and out of proportion with the perceived threat. In those instances, anxiety can seriously impair a person’s normal daily activities. Uncontrollable anxiety can be devastating - both mentally and physically - threatening employment, relationships, and overall health, including immune system functioning.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - What are the symptoms?</image:title>
<image:caption>Anxiety comes in many forms and a person may have more than one kind of anxiety. Some of the more common forms are: Panic Attacks - sudden, frightening bodily sensations that may be interpreted as a heart attack, stroke, or a fear of fainting or “going crazy.” Generalized Anxiety - excessive worry, irritability, muscle tension, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, sleep problems. Social Anxiety - a strong fear of being negatively judged by other people, often leading to avoidance of social situations. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - distressing memories of a traumatic event that causes problems in daily activities. Adjustment and Grief - a life event (change in employment, death or illness of a loved one, moving to a new location, etc.) that causes significant and/or chronic distress. Existential Questions - a loss of meaning in one’s life. Stuck-ness - the sense that there is a better version of oneself waiting to be actualized.</image:caption>
